In 1934, a liqueur with an anise flavor was developed in New Orleans, Louisiana, as an alternative to absinthe. During World War I, J. Marion Legendre and Reginald Parker discovered how to brew absinthe in France. Currently created by Sazerac, the brand was once produced under the name "Legendre Absinthe." The alcohol was created to resemble absinthe, which was outlawed in 1912, and was first released shortly after Prohibition ended. Because it lacked wormwood, the essential component of absinthe, herbsaint was never regarded as absinthe.?Legendre's use of the word "absinthe" was also contested by the Federal Alcohol Control Administration, leading to a name change to "Legendre Herbsaint," which is French Creole for "Herbe Sainte," or Sacred Herb, which is Artemisia absinthium. Inspired by the spirit of the Great War, Legendre Herbsaint is a vintage-styled herbaceous paint with stronger floral and herbaceous undertones. It is bottled after being reduced to a strong 100 proof. Grab your bottle right now!
